The Bakersfield Homeless Center provided services to over 4200 people in our community last year. Our volunteers are a major reason for our success.
Volunteers help save over $850,000 in salaries a year and provided approximately 25% of the labor force at BHC. "The Volunteer Center provides a crucial avenue for community volunteers to plug into non-profit organizations, such as BHC, who use them to supplement their workforce..." ,BHC Volunteer Supervisor, Jerri Alvarado. These community workers referred from the Volunteer Center helped provide staffing for almost every department at BHC: from the kitchen, to the warehouse, these volunteers make BHC departments run smoothly. "We at BHC are so thankful to Brenda Ratliff and her staff at the Volunteer Center of Bakersfield for their continued support of the mission at BHC," said Alvarado. If you are interested in volunteering in our community, please contact Brenda at the Volunteer Center of Bakersfield, at 661-395-9787. |
